I first met Karline sometime around 1984, when she was operating The Snack Box on Main Street in Red Bluff. Even then, people were talking—not just about the quality of the food, but about the friendliness of both the staff and the owner herself. The place was always busy, and for good reason.
Fast forward to the mid-1990s—after moving back to Redding—I was told by family about a place called Déjà Vu that had “the best food and coffee around.” When I heard the owner’s name was Karline, I had a feeling…
Sure enough, when I walked in and saw her making her rounds—connecting with customers table-to-table—it was the same Karline. That connection turned into years of loyalty, as my family and I became regular weekend customers.
Karline has always poured herself completely into her businesses—lock, stock, and barrel. Through that dedication, Déjà Vu Restaurant became one of the most recognized and celebrated dining spots in the North State—earning consistent Best of the North State honors and building a reputation for unforgettable breakfasts, incredible Eggs Benedict, and cinnamon rolls that are simply second to none.
In 2015, Karline brought that same passion and commitment to downtown Redding with the opening of Karline’s Restaurant & Bar.
